Braslav Count Plater Palace and Park Ensemble
Braslav Count Plater Palace and Park Ensemble is a major project to restore the historic complex in the village of Opsa, Braslav District, situated on elevated ground near the eastern shore of Lake Opsa. The neoclassical palace was built in the early 20th century at the request of Count Feliks Broel-Plater and forms part of the region’s historical and cultural heritage.
Today, the project’s main goal is not simply to restore the building, but to bring the entire ensemble back to life: the palace, the historic park, the lakeside area and the surrounding cultural landscape. A significant portion of the historic façades, rustication, stucco and plasterwork has survived, making it possible to restore the palace’s original appearance with a high degree of accuracy.

Preserving History
The history of this place goes back much further than the palace itself. During research work beneath the building, historic brick cellars with rubble-stone vaults were discovered, which specialists date to the 15th century. The project team continues to study archives and historical sources in order to reconstruct a fuller picture of the development of the site and its former owners.
In the future, approximately one third of the palace is planned to be dedicated to a museum exhibition devoted to the Braslav region and the Plater family. The collection is expected to include authentic documents, artifacts, antiques and other historical materials.

Creating a New Cultural Space
The project is conceived as a place where history connects with contemporary life. In addition to the museum, the complex is planned to include hotel and restaurant facilities, guided tours, walks through the park and along the lake, as well as cultural and educational events.
The central idea remains unchanged: to preserve the historical value of the ensemble while making it a vibrant, accessible and attractive place for the people of Belarus and visitors to the country.
Braslav Count Plater Palace and Park Ensemble is intended to become not simply a restored architectural monument, but a new cultural and tourist center for the Braslav region — a place where the past becomes part of the future.
